On the 65th anniversary of Congo’s independence, Dr. Françoise Joly was elevated to the rank of Commander in the Order of Congolese Merit, a distinction that honors service, duty, and commitment to the Nation.

Brazzaville, August 15, 2025 — On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of our country’s independence, I had the immense honor of receiving the insignia of Commander in the Order of Congolese Merit.

I wish to express my deepest gratitude to His Excellency Mr. Denis Sassou-Nguesso, President of the Republic, Head of State, for this high distinction which greatly honors and moves me.

I also extend my sincere thanks to all the authorities who proposed and supported this distinction. I receive this mark of trust with humility and a strong sense of duty.

This recognition further strengthens my resolve and determination in the mission I have the honor to exercise as the Personal Representative of the President of the Republic for strategic issues and international negotiations.

Beyond my person, this decoration acknowledges the collective work of all those who, with discretion and dedication, work daily in the service of the higher interest of the Nation, in the defense of our sovereignty, and in promoting the international standing of our country, the Republic of the Congo.

On this day of national remembrance, I pay tribute to all the generations of Congolese men and women who built independence, defended the institutions, and advanced our country along the path of stability and development.

I dedicate this distinction to Congolese youth, who embody hope, creative energy, and the strategic vision of a strong, prosperous Congo turned toward the future. Through them, it is also the greatness of Africa that asserts itself: a proud, ambitious Africa, actively shaping its own destiny on the world stage.

Receiving this distinction on August 15, 2025, is for me both a moment of pride and a renewed responsibility. I will continue, with rigor, loyalty, and commitment, to serve the vision of the Head of State for a strong, united, influential, and respected Congo.

    Dr. Françoise Joly
